Meet Dr. Sotomayor MD
Certified plasmalogen and CIRS specialist
Dr. Brendan Sotomayor was born and raised in the Chicagoland suburbs where he graduated from Carl Sandburg High School. He then obtained a BS in Integrative Physiology with a minor in chemistry from the University of Iowa. Missing home, Dr. Sotomayor went back to Chicago, where he attended medical school at Loyola University (Chicago’s Stritch School of Medicine). There he learned to “treat the human spirit” and matched into an emergency medicine residency program at Resurrection Medical Center. Graduating in 2019 he first took his talents to Northwest Indiana, where he practiced medicine in a busy emergency room treating critical patients mainly from poor income areas. Although Dr. Sotomayor lived a very healthy lifestyle, he began to become ill shortly after starting his career in the ER. Following his never ending thirst for knowledge and the truth, he began to tirelessly search for the root cause of his illness. This journey led him to being diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome a year later. In 2021, Dr. Sotomayor was drawn to the Driftless region of Wisconsin where he practiced in the Viroqua, Wisconsin emergency room. There, he continued to practice medicine but this time, he had the knowledge of what CIRS was. While treating patients, Dr. Sotomayor began to understand firsthand how prevalent CIRS was in the medical system and saw a tremendous need for treatment of these patients. He then pursued proficiency in the researched backed Shoemaker protocol and became a certified Proficiency Partner in Spring of 2022. Since then, Dr. Sotomayor has decided to open his own practice, Nuerth Medicine, so he could start to fill this incredible need for physicians proficient in the diagnosis, treatment and cure of CIRS.
